गौतम बुद्ध – पुनर्जन्म भाग २

Posted on August 27, 2023 by deshift00

This has quickly become one of my all time favorite bands. Translating to Gautam Buddha, this mysterious raw black metal cult is a meditation on death and reincarnation. Continuing from where they left off on their first release, they touch upon the eight reasons why we must reincarnate until we reach enlightenment much like the great Buddha himself. This is done in a very unique way of raw black metal done in an almost psychedelic and folk style. And because of this, they have really cemented themselves as one of my favorite bands hands down.

With this second release, the remaining four reasons out of the eight are as follows. For seeking retribution, for seeking vengeance, in the event of untimely death, to fulfill incomplete practices. These reasons are explained in a way that is expressed very deeply within the music themselves. Having a much more aggressive and angrier approach as opposed to the first album. While many of the same qualities have stayed the same, like the raw production style, unique guitar playing that takes influence from classical Indian music, with psychedelic sounding guitar passages and unique atmospheric shorts in the placed through out the songs that help break up the aggressive monotony. The vocals are these harsh and tortured prayers that I’m sure express the hatred and sadness that could be attached to the endless cycle we all must face until we reach a higher form of self.

This album is something more of an experience than anything else. Especially when listened to in order, the two albums become this one beautifully cohesive explanation of one of the most important part of Buddhism. This is such a unique and cool way of expressing that but also the unique approach to black metal its self as well. Seeing the small but rapidly growing underground metal scene of India is fascinating and the masterful stuff coming out from there like this is truly something else. Not only for the imagery its self but the beautiful and masterful guitar playing all through out the album is something to meditate on its self. Give the first album and this one a listen together, as its very much worth it.

Absolutely agree with everything written above! Discovered this band in the lockdown, I could not believe this band’s existence, their sound, the absolutely laser-focused and meditative concept and the sheer injustice that bands like this remain obscure! Had to buy their record. Now buying their second. Just glad someone is chronicling all of this too.
