Ejecutador – Stalking the Kill

Posted on June 15, 2023June 16, 2023 by deshift00

Hailing from my home town of Miami, FL, comesthe debut EP of Ejecutador a blackend thrash metal assault that’s just about as hot as the weather down here. With members of the legendary underground Caveman Cult and the incredibly crushing thrash/death metal occultists Charred coming together to create a primitive headbanging thrash assault that sounds like a blast from the past, taking those old tried and true thrash assaults and brings them up to the present.

Beginning with a wailing guitar screech, this EP jumps straight to the point with some hard rocking drums, chugging guitar riffs, and a thick meaty bass that crushes those who stand before it. With some familiar caveman vocals, and just all around pristine song-writing, each track is a headbanger one after another. With some old-school elements here and there that bring back memories of Bathory’s first album as well as Slayer’s first album, there’s a little bit of something that both the old heads and new listeners would certainly find appealing. The production is crunchy and heavy yet clean and listenable. The perfect balance between raw and clean.

My favorite aspect of this release are the vocals. They’re raw and very reconizeable, any fan of Caveman Cult can point out these vocals from a line up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. The vocals are able to create this really primitive atmosphere that enhances the aggressive and melodic instrumentals that banged out with exact precision. With extra emphasis on the melodic part of things, the instrumentals them selves are much more mid-paced with plenty of d-beats and some blast beats thrown here and there creating for a fun listen.

This is an incredibly solid EP with a very strong backing behind it that makes me very excited to see where this goes in the future. Modern thrash metal to me seems so stagnant but this seems like such a breath of fresh air, and really nailing that perfect old-school sound while still keeping it fresh and different. Highly recommend to all.
